About this piece
A hand-painted tortoise, a traditional symbol of luck and long life. The domed shell and slow, steady shape give it a calm look, and it suits a desk, a bookshelf or a table in a hallway.
It suits housewarming and retirement gifts, where the idea of luck and a long, easy life is welcome. It is also a good present for someone who loves tortoises. At 9 cm at its longest it is a comfortable size for a shelf. It is a hand-carved, hand-painted decorative item, not a toy. It also pairs well with the Elephant, Trunk Raised for a lucky pair of gifts, as both are traditional good-luck animals.
